Welcome to the Translational Tissue Engineering and Biofabrication (TTEB) Laboratory at the University of South Florida!
At the TTEB Lab, our research is focused on developing living, functional, and growable tissue constructs that integrate patient-derived cells, tissue-mimetic biomaterials, and advanced biofabrication techniques. We aim to engineer constructs that respond to physiological stimuli, adapt to their environment, and ultimately serve as one-time, lifelong solutions for tissue repair or replacement.
Our core strategies include electrospinning, autologous mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs), fibrous biomaterials, comprehensive material characterization, cell–biomaterial interaction assays, and bioreactor-based mechanical conditioning. To translate engineered tissues from bench to bedside, we conduct preclinical testing in animal models in collaboration with Tampa General Hospital and the USF Morsani College of Medicine.
Our interdisciplinary team at the University of South Florida includes PhD, Master’s, and undergraduate researchers united by a shared mission: to advance regenerative medicine through scientific innovation and translational impact.
